Every day, the smallest and most vulnerable patients are born and receive care at Kyiv City Clinical Hospital №5 – infants who need special care from the first minutes of their lives. Some of them are born prematurely, while others have serious illnesses or complications. In these first days and weeks, not only their survival but also their entire future life depends on quality medical care.

The Department of Postnatal Care and Early Postnatal Rehabilitation of Newborns was created specifically for such children. Here, specialists work together with parents to fight step by step for the child's chance at a healthy childhood. The task of doctors and nurses is not only to save lives, but also to ensure that every baby has the opportunity to develop, overcome complications, and feel safe

But this requires special equipment, without which modern medicine is powerless. As part of this project, we aim to provide the department with two phototherapy lamps and six pulse oximeters.

Phototherapy lamps are devices that save children from dangerous jaundice. For adults, this condition may seem insignificant, but for newborns, it poses a real threat to brain development and even life. Phototherapy is a gentle light that helps the baby's body remove excess bilirubin from the blood. The sooner a child receives treatment, the sooner they can safely return to their mother.

Pulse oximeters are extremely important devices that are placed on a baby's hand or foot and instantly show how well the child is breathing and whether their brain and heart are getting enough oxygen. For premature babies, this monitoring is vital: their lungs are still too weak to function without assistance. Thanks to pulse oximeters, doctors can see the slightest changes in a child's condition and save their life before a critical situation arises.

These devices seem simple, but for infants, they mean one thing: a chance to survive and grow up healthy.

Kyiv City Clinical Hospital №5 is not just a medical facility. It is one of the capital's main hospitals, performing a vital mission: providing care to the most complex patients, including newborns who were born prematurely or with developmental disabilities. Multidisciplinary teams of specialists work here, including neonatologists, pediatricians, rehabilitation specialists, and others. Their goal is not only to save lives, but also to help babies on their way to a healthy future and to give parents support and hope.

This hospital is part of Ukraine's critically important medical infrastructure. By supporting it today, we are all investing in a healthy future for the country.

That is why your contribution is more than just financial support. It is the light that will help a child overcome jaundice. It is the breath that will not falter at a critical moment. It is the heart that will continue to beat.
