Give people with disabilities a joint recreation!

For over 13 years, the Caritas Charity Fund of the Sambir-Drohobych Diocese has been successfully operating the “Amazing Hands” Day Care and Social Rehabilitation Center for young people with intellectual disabilities.

The main goal of this center is to help people with disabilities in their personal development in all areas of life so that they can become independent and full-fledged members of society. The center is visited daily by about 20 people aged 17 to 45 with Down syndrome and mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.

At the center “Amazing Hands”, young people learn to embroider icons and pictures with beads, make various decorations, and participate in preparing lunch every day. Events are held for our friends to help them acquire social and life skills: laundry, personal care, the ability to follow traffic rules, basic social skills, basic knowledge about the city and country where they live, and so on. Small and big miracles happen here every day. Friends don't just get support — they create, learn, overcome barriers, and achieve what seemed unattainable yesterday. Their stories are not about limitations, but about strength of spirit, community, and humanity.

Every year, we also try to organize a short-term vacation camp for our friends. Since the Center is not a state organization and operates on donations and various fundraising events, every year we face the challenge of raising funds for a short-term vacation camp for our friends.

The goal of the project is to raise UAH 41,400.00 to cover the cost of accommodation for friends of the Center and accompanying persons (parents, employees, and volunteers) for two days at the Shepilskaya Recreation Complex, where the camp is planned to be held. We have already managed to raise the necessary funds for meals, spa visits, transportation of camp participants.

 Our friends really want to go on vacation together this summer. And they deserve it — after all, every day they surprise us with their sincerity, hard work, and genuine talent. They create unique bead paintings, bracelets, and postcards with their own hands.
