A small heart is of great importance in the life of each of us! Probably each of us dreams of becoming a parent: kind, sensitive, fair and a little crazy. The appearance of a child in a family is a holiday, a new stage in life, new emotions and much, much more. But let us look at this event through the prism of parents whose children were born special... In this case, with congenital heart defects, i.e. the heart is not functioning properly.

There are wizards who know how to "repair" children's hearts – these are Cardiac surgeons. Their main assistants are: medical equipment, surgical instruments, a variety of medical devices, etc. But the world is so arranged that the “helpers” also need help, namely the replacement of parts and other trifles, which are an important part of one large mechanism.

With limited budgetary funding for medicine, repairing and replacing small things in medical equipment for public hospitals is becoming a huge problem. As a result, vital apparatuses gather dust on shelves, and do not save sick children.

The only department in the Southern region of cardiovascular surgery in the Odessa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital was no exception. 250-280 patients enter the department annually, of which 80-90 require respiratory support for AIVL. This medical equipment is used at the time of surgery and in the early postoperative period. Also, in some situations, children come who need mechanical ventilation before surgery and the connection of AIVL gives such a child a chance to survive. For several months, one of two expert-grade ventilation devices (AIVL) has not been working. For a "second life", the ventilator needs to undergo a current repair, namely: replacing the battery, motherboard, oxygen sensor and a set of filters (including HEPA) - all this is an inadmissible luxury for a hospital.

Also, this ventilator can be used to provide care to patients during the outbreak of COVID-19.
