Gifts for Fearless

Do you remember how thrilled you were as a child when you received a gift? That was the feeling of being loved, of being taken care of. Children who have cancer are often deprived of such cute little gifts and feelings. Money is spent for treatment. And if the medicines are available at the hospital, the resources are still accumulated because the family is afraid that they might need them for something vital.

These fearless kids are hospitalized for months. They will have no day off from IV and other painful procedures but together we can support these fearless kids. Let’s place a box of courage full of cute little toys in a treatment room so that children got rewarded for their courage. This idea works great in the world and now it’s high time to introduce this practice to the Lviv Pediatric Hospital.

Childhood cancer is a daily struggle for life. Daily horrendous and painful treatments: punctures, biopsy, catheter installation, removal and maintenance, round-the-clock IV, treatment of sutures, wounds, and bandages. In the treatment room of the Department of Hematology in Lviv (Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Hospital) every day up to 10 unpleasant treatments is performed for children with blood and lymphatic diseases, malignant leukemia and lymphomas.

The idea of placing the box of courage in the treatment room is aimed at supporting seriously ill children when they are scared, in pain and in despair to raise their spirits and bring joy. These little prizes make happy fearless boys and girls. There is no force that can bring children back to the treatment room. Only a miracle and a gift for courage!
