Breath of life - 2

A man can survive without food several weeks, without water a fiew days, but without air only a few minutes. Many newborn patients of Okhmatdyt can’t even breathe independently. And to help these kids is honors of adults, and ours! The purpose of this project is to raise money for the purchase of ventilator for neonatal intensive care unit in Okhmatdyt.

Speaking about the neonatal intensive care unit, which is on the first floor of the neonatal building, there isn’t any new equipment at all. Unfortunately, there is a large part of the existing obsolete equipment, the part of it is went down and can’t be repaired. There is no device for noninvasive mechanical ventilation in the intensive care. It is the least traumatic type of ventilation which is allowed to child breath through a mask not a tube that is introduced into the trachea.

Apparatus Infant Flow SiPAP produced by VIASYS is unique. The device records the attempts of spontaneous patient breathing, automatically adjusts to them and demonstrates the best performance. These devices are equipped maternity hospitals in Europe and the USA. Medical practitioners around the world prefer to go as far as possible from classical ventilation (using a tube in the throat) and nurse children, using Infant Flow. In Ukraine this apparatus is already presented in many resuscitation babies. And the only specialized pediatric medical institutions of the 4 level of assistance "Okhmatdyt" - the apparatus is still not presented!

If we can present Infantflow SiPAP to Okhmatdyt, we first of all can help hundreds of premature babies and their families! Let’s reduce the severity of complications associated with the classical mechanical ventilation and reduce time which babies spent in intensive care!
