News May 2025

At her kindergarten graduation, Mirroka made a wish as she released a balloon into the sky: that her diabetes would disappear and she would be healthy again.

Mirra lives in the village of Pobuzke in the Kirovohrad region. She sings in a choir and is learning to play the piano. Mirroka enjoys beadwork and origami.

The girl adores animals. She has a cat and hamsters at home. And on the street, Mirroslava always feeds stray cats.

On 13 August 2023, Mirra was admitted to the intensive care unit in Pervomaisk with a critically high glucose level of 24 mmol/l. The first thing her parents learned in intensive care was about sensors. They monitor glucose fluctuations and replace numerous finger pricks. One sensor works for 14 days, and 24 such devices are needed per year, with a total cost of 53,640 UAH.

Caring people helped the family purchase an insulin pump. Consumables for it will cost 46,360 UAH per year. These include catheters, reservoirs, and infusion sets.

The use of sensors and a pump allows you to avoid serious complications and, in essence, prolong life. It also significantly reduces the amount of pain the child experiences from injections.

Before the war, Mirroslava's parents worked at a metallurgical plant. But in October 2022, a rocket strike destroyed the power substation. Since then, in order to provide for his large family, her father has taken on any odd jobs he can find.

Friends, let's work together to fulfil Mirroslava's wish and help her live without pain!
