Double Happiness – double grief

Little Kostia and Pavlik are twins. Kostia is elder and was born bigger and stronger. Pavlik didn’t even cry after birth and was immediately transported to the intensive care unit and placed on a medical ventilator. Then children were transferred to the neonatal pathology department and a month later they were discharged in satisfactory condition. Even then Kostia was diagnosed hydrocephalus and Pavlik – developmental delay. When the elder brother was 4 months he was operated on, and a CSF shunt system was installed. Father stayed with him at the hospital while mother was with Pavlik on rehab.

It is said that the twins have a special bond. Probably, that’s why they fell ill at the same time. When the boys were 10 months, Kostia was hospitalized for a CSF-shunt system revision surgery, and Pavlik was at the hospital with pneumonia. Treatment of pneumonia did not produce any result, the condition worsened. The boy choked with saliva, could no longer swallow, suffered from convulsions. Little Pavlik underwent a CT-examination and a tumor was detected. To reduce intracranial pressure, a CSF-shunt system was installed. Immediately, the boy was taken by the ambulance to the Institute of Neurosurgery. A few days later Kostya was hospitalized too with a high temperature.

Now Pavlik is waiting for a surgery to remove a brain tumor. Unfortunately, the doctors cannot perform an operation now because he has pneumonia. With such a disease a person cannot be operated on. Time presses, the tumor is growing.

The family and the doctors united all their effort to make him recover from that condition. However, to overcome the disease, medicines and medical supplies which are not available at the hospital are required. The mother has to buy everything. Regular visits to the hospitals exhausted all the resources of the family, that’s why they ask to help. The family needs to collect 10 000 UAH for anti-inflammatory medicines, medical supplies, diapers and food. Let’s not be indifferent to the troubles of these two little twins and help pull them out of permanent hospitalizations. Let’s help these kids to be healthy!
