Andrii was born a healthy child, but at just 9 months old his life changed dramatically – he had his first epileptic seizure triggered by a high fever. From that point on, any rise in temperature would provoke a new seizure. Hospitals became a familiar part of life for little Andrii and his parents, as finding medication that would help him proved to be very difficult. Andrii currently takes two anti-epileptic medications, one of which his parents are forced to order from abroad, as it is not available in Ukraine.
Over time, when it seemed the worst was behind them and his condition had been partially stabilized, the family faced a new challenge – Andrii was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. So, on top of the daily struggle with epileptic seizures came constant blood sugar monitoring, insulin injections, and the risks of sudden glucose fluctuations.
Andrii now measures his own blood sugar and administers his own insulin injections. However, due to stress and fatigue at school, his glucose levels are unstable, making continuous glucose monitoring sensors absolutely essential for him. They make his life at least a little easier.
The combination of two conditions significantly complicates the child's life, as both stress and changes in glucose levels can affect his overall health. This is precisely why continuous monitoring is necessary.
Despite having three children in the family, his parents do their best to provide Andrii with everything he needs. But their financial means do not allow them to fully cover all the costs associated with his treatment and ongoing health management.
We ask you not to stand aside. Please support Andrii and help provide him with the continuous glucose monitoring sensors he needs.
