The baby in the photo is 2-year-old Sergiy. This strong boy was born with a severe diagnosis of Spina bifida, a congenital spinal malformation. From the first days of his life, Sergiy has been fighting for his health: on the first day he was operated on, later hydrocephalus was diagnosed and a brain shunt was installed. Unfortunately, the shunt has already failed twice and had to be replaced.

Subsequently, Sergiy was diagnosed with a neurogenic bladder, which means that the boy does not feel the need to go to the toilet, so he has to have a catheter every 2 hours. The boy also has lower limb paraparesis, valgus deformity of the feet and subluxation of the hip joint. His body is weakened, and Sergiy spends most of his little life in hospitals.

Despite all the difficulties, Sergiy is a cheerful kid who wants to live a full life. To give him a chance for movement, health and a pain-free childhood, he needs constant rehabilitation.
