It all started back in February 2022, but it seems to her mother that it was like yesterday... 2 days before Nastia's birthday, her mother was still coordinating the menu for the party with her father, looking for a recipe for an incredible meringue cake in the shape of the number 2. These were the last happy moments before doctors diagnosed the girl with the disease. Then everything was a blur: the ambulance, the hospital, and the doctors' scary words – diabetes. And two days later, for the first time in their lives, the family heard the terrible sounds of a siren – a full-scale war had begun! This is how Nastya and her family's journey of struggle began, the path of learning and accepting the new realities of their lives.
Now Nastya is 5 years old. The girl was born the second child in the family, her brother is 11 years older. No one in the family had diabetes. Nastia developed rapidly mentally, outperforming her peers, started talking early, but she got tired very quickly physically. The child had all her vaccinations, she visited all the doctors according to the schedule, no one suspected anything. Until the girl showed all the signs of type 1 diabetes – she drank a lot, had red cheeks, lost weight and had no energy at all.
Nastya is sociable, intelligent and quick-witted. With any toy, she will come up with a game scenario that even adults would not have thought of. She loves to sing, has a beautiful voice and knows many songs by heart. She has a cat, loves to take care of it, feed it, scratch it, and sing lullabies to it. He is waiting for the war to end and dreams of seeing the sea.
The parents took a long time to get used to their daughter's diagnosis, studying materials to understand how to live with it. They try to do everything to ensure that their child eats a healthy and balanced diet, because blood sugar levels depend on nutrition. Nastia is not yet enrolled in a kindergarten because few people want to take responsibility for her health and life. Because of this, her mother cannot go to work and stays with the child around the clock. Her blood sugar level can drop sharply, and she needs to be able to quickly navigate to raise it to prevent hypoglycemia or coma. With modern sensors, Nastia's life could be much easier, but they require considerable funds. Nastia's mother is asking for help because they cannot provide proper treatment for her daughter on their own.
