Despite diabetes, Mariia does not quit sports.4

Mariika is a very kind, sincere, and caring girl. Since the start of the full-scale war, she and her mother have been doing volunteer work. Her older brother volunteered to defend Ukraine in the first days of the war, and Masha helps him and other soldiers: she collects care packages, prepares homemade treats, and puts a piece of her care into every parcel.

But for two years now, Masha herself has been fighting type 1 diabetes every day. This means constant insulin injections, strict dietary control, and dozens of blood glucose checks throughout the day.

Despite all the difficulties, Masha does not give up. She plays sport, as physical activity is very important for her health. During physical exertion, however, her blood sugar often drops sharply. When this happens, the girl quickly eats a sweet and is glad that at least now she gets to have some.

Unfortunately, her mother is currently unable to purchase continuous glucose monitoring sensors on her own. And for Masha, this is a vital necessity. It is the sensor that allows her blood sugar to be monitored around the clock, provides timely warnings of dangerous fluctuations, and gives the child greater safety.

Thanks to sensors, Masha will be able to attend her underground school, play sport, swim in the river, and live an active childhood without the constant fear of missing a dangerous drop or spike in glucose levels.
