UPD: attempts to carry out an operation in Ukraine for objective reasons were in vain, for a year the boy could not be helped. Given this, the operation Artem held in Germany, in the University Hospital Halle. On May 3, the foundation transferred funds to a German clinic, and already on May 7, the boy was operated on. Detailed information is available in the project blog and "Documentation" section. Artem Stadnіk is 5 years old. On the day of his birth he was diagnosed with a lymphangioma of his head and his neck, since then the tumour has extended on the child’s face and neck, threatening his life. The tumour has affected the respiratory tract making breathing difficult for Artem so he now requires a tracheostomy (the tube in his trachea) to allow him to breathe. Artem has already undergone four operations in order to remove the tumour from his face and neck as well as the consequences of cavernoma (cerebral vascular neoplasms that led to neurological disorders).

Externally, Artem’s tumor still looks shocking but if we compare the boy’s appearance on each of his photos after each operation, we can see that each operation has reduced the tumour and Artem is able to breathe much more easily now. All four operations were carried out by specialists at the "Ichilov" clinic in Israel. The first of Artem’s operations lasted for 8 hours, and each of the following operations for 4-5 hours. Israeli doctors removed most of the tumour and they offered further treatment in Ichilov clinic, but the amount of money needed is so large that after assessing many different factors, we decided to look for a clinic in Ukraine.

First of all, Artem's mother decided to go to a renowned doctor in Ukraine who is a very famous plastic surgeon and who has over 20 years’ experience working as the head of the "Clinic of Doctor Valikhnovsky" (Valikhnovsky MD) Medical Centre in Kiev, Ukraine and his name is Rostislav Lubomirovich Valikhnovsky. On the 27th of February Artem went with his mother to Kiev in order to have a consultation with Rostislav Lubomirovich. This doctor assured them that he and his professional team could help Artem. In addition, treatment in Ukraine will be much cheaper than in the other countries and purchasing international flights and accommodation would be unnecessary.
Rostislav Lubomirovich explained to Artem's mother that the detailed examination will be carried out for Artem in order to minimize all risks. After that, our doctors will perform the fifth operation and remove the remaining tumor as far possible. There will be a team of 5 or 6 surgeons working at the same time on Artem. Artem's mother also wondered whether doctors will be able after all of these vital operations make her son’s face symmetric and this is what the doctor said: "Yes, it is all possible to do and it will be eventually done." Rostislav Valikhnovsky’s experience is well known, therefore Nadezhda Stadnik certainly trusts this doctor completely as well as all of the other doctors working with him as a team.
The clinic billed the medical services (which include the expenses for the detailed examination, operation and postoperative period) for the amount of UAH581,254. Doctor Valikhnovsky expects to see Artem in his clinic in early summer 2017.
We are all worried about Artem’s fate. Not only his life needs to be saved, but also all of us should help this boy to get socialized so that he can make friends with children not being afraid of his appearance but developing the friendship with him. We completely trust our doctors and we want to accelerate Artem’s process of recovery by collecting necessary funds for his treatment on time. We ask all of you to help this child, to support by any amount affordable for you!
