Artur grew up as a fine, active, and sociable boy. He developed on schedule, just like all his peers. But when he started first grade, his mother noticed that Artur had begun to lose weight. They went to the hospital for an examination. From there, the boy was admitted directly to intensive care with a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.
