Matvii is a very kind and sociable five-year-old child who is excited and curious about this big world. But a year ago, after his fourth birthday, his parents noticed an alarming change in his behavior: their friendly and cheerful son became irritable and thirsty. The diagnosis received after a blood sugar test came as a shock to the family – Matvii has type I diabetes.
Tons of drips and tests, constant requests for food, spontaneous consumption of which can turn into intensive care for the boy, endless punctures of small fingers break the hearts of his parents every day. The most difficult thing for them is that Matvii does not feel either too high or critically low sugar levels – an incorrect or untimely reaction to them can lead to coma, so the only salvation is constant monitoring of blood glucose levels. Now the family has to do this through constant pain – for each measurement, about 15-20 times a day, the boy's fingers are pierced.
But there is another way out – using a sensor that continuously analyzes blood sugar in almost real time. Such a device is necessary for a child to attend kindergarten or play with children for at least a few hours without the constant presence of parents. Without it, Matvii will have to spend his years of exploring the world in pain and loneliness of an eternal struggle with the disease. But such a life-saving device is out of reach for the family: his mother is on maternity leave, taking care of Matvii and his two-month-old brother, and his father's income is unstable. Help the boy get a chance to explore this world with a bright smile, not constant fear!
