In July last year Nastya fell ill. The girl began to feel bad, her stomach hurt. Her parents decided to take her to the hospital. When the doctors received the results of the tests, it turned out that the child had high levels of sugar in her urine and acetone. Nastya was rushed to the regional hospital. Two days in intensive care, then two weeks in the hospital's endocrinology department, and Nastia was diagnosed with insulin-dependent type 1 diabetes.

Nastia comes from a large family in the Kharkiv region. She has an older 15-year-old brother and a twin brother.

Nastia and Mykola were born a little prematurely, but they caught up with other children in their first year of life. Nastya loves her brothers very much, she is a kind, smart and creative girl. She loves to draw, sculpt and make crafts. The girl is very fond of animals, she has a guinea pig, rabbits and a puppy that she takes care of.

It took a long time for her mother to get used to her daughter's illness and learn to live with it: she gradually learned to count carbohydrates in food, to give injections correctly so as not to get bruises. Nastia is still afraid of giving herself injections. And, of course, the most important thing is to control her glucose levels. After frequent measurements, the child's fingers began to hurt from the needle, and the doctors advised her to try the sensors. It's a very good thing, her fingers don't hurt, and her mother sleeps at night not worrying, because if the sugar level is too high or too low, the sensor gives an audible alarm that you can respond to. It is also very convenient when Nastia has a cold. Her blood sugar spikes, especially at night. With the sensors, mom can react in time and inject insulin. But the device is not cheap, and the family cannot afford to buy it all the time. Only her father works in the family, and her mother takes care of the children, administers insulin, monitors sugar levels, and counts carbohydrates.

Nastia can lead a normal life – go to dances, study and create art - without piercing her fingers 10 times a day to measure her sugar with a glucose meter. She needs help to do this.
