Premature birth led to the development of cerebral palsy in Mariyka. Since then, she has been fighting every day for free movement and a life without pain.
Mariyka is now thirteen years old. She cannot walk and can only sit with support. However, she enjoys learning and eagerly awaits her teacher. The girl hardly speaks but actively communicates through gestures. It is very important that her fingers do not clench into a fist, and her hands remain flexible. This helps her complete tasks, draw, and express her thoughts.
Due to cerebral palsy, Mariyka suffers from spasticity – uncontrolled muscle tension that causes pain. Massages and therapeutic physical exercise significantly improve her condition, reduce muscle tone, and make her movements more fluid. Mariyka's sister, Darya, a student at the Medical University, gives her the massages. In this way, the sisters support each other: Darya gains practical experience as a rehabilitation specialist, while Mariyka feels better.
To reduce spasticity and pain, Mariyka needs to undergo rehabilitation courses several times a year. We aim to raise funds for one of these courses at the Kosiavkin Clinic. In the relatively peaceful town of Truskavets, she will be able to recover physically and psychologically. This is especially important because the constant explosions and sirens in Zaporizhzhia keep Mariyka in a heightened state of tension.
Together, we can improve Mariyka’s life – help her live without pain and anxiety!
