Winter can be a difficult time of year for families in difficult circumstances. Cold, lack of money, and the need to care for children and elderly family members can create additional difficulties and problems at this time of year for many. Lack of funds can lead to the inability to buy enough food, pay for utilities, buy warm clothes, shoes and other necessary things. This can cause stress, anxiety and feelings of helplessness in both parents and children. For families in difficult life circumstances winter can be a real test.
Mini-shelter for families in winter becomes especially important, because at this time of year many need additional support. In our mini-shelter in Kyiv 15 people (young people without a family, parents and children) who are left without housing can get shelter and be provided with basic needs, including food, social, psychological and transport needs. Here they can also share their experiences, learn from each other and find new solutions to problems. This assists in broadening their perspective and developing adaptive skills. The feeling of belonging to a group helps to cope with stress, get emotional support and strengthen ties with other people. A sense of community matters in difficult moments of life. When a person feels part of a community, he becomes more confident and able to withstand difficulties.
Thanks to your support of the project "Shelter for families that suffered from the war. 6" we will be able to provide our wards with basic needs, as well as pay for the work of a social teacher and driver, utilities, and telecommunications services.
