Sofia is an energetic and active child who studies well, loves to draw, read, and play with her younger sister. The girl's childhood proceeded without any developmental abnormalities. But last spring, illness suddenly entered her life – type 1 diabetes, a severe form that requires glycemic control.
The child's condition depends on her blood glucose level. She may experience thirst, headaches, limb tremors, leg pain, and intense hunger when her sugar levels drop. To maintain a full life and development, Sofiika needs constant insulin injections and continuous monitoring of her blood glucose levels throughout her life. The child is registered with an endocrinologist. Currently, the girl is at home, but once every six months or in case of acute need, she is admitted to the hospital.
Her mother, who is raising two daughters on her own and also caring for her retired grandmother, cannot cope with the financial burden on her own. The sensors that are vital for her life need to be changed every two weeks, not to mention the rest of the expenses. Become a ray of light in this family's life!
