Prosthetics of the defender

Oleksandr, call sign DID, in 2019 stood up for the defense of the Motherland and joined tank brigade with the sole desire to end the anti-terrorist operation as soon as possible.

On February 24, 2022, Oleksandr and his comrades met the enemy at the borders of our State with Belarus, on the territory of the unit's deployment. They fought back on the Gostomel highway, then withstood the defense of Chernihiv Oblast and were transferred to the fortifications of the Eastern Borders in the Donetsk region.

On 30.04.2022, during a combat mission to prepare combat positions near the village of Komar, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, Оleksandr received a gunshot multiple shrapnel wound from an unknown enemy explosive device. The explosion occurred on his right side and he sustained injuries to his head, right eye, upper and lower extremities, gunshot breaks of both bones of his right shin, traumatic amputation of Ⅰ-Ⅲ fingers of his right hand.

"When the explosion occurred, I did not immediately understand what had happened, I asked my brothers-in-arms what was wrong with them, if they were okay. But then I started to lose consciousness.... The guys immediately rushed to provide first aid, applied several tourniquets, which allowed me not to lose too much blood.For this I am very grateful to them!!!", Oleksandr notes.

Oleksandr went through a long path of treatment – Kurakhove, Dnipro, Kyiv, Trondheim (Norway). A total of 19 operations were performed. In Norway, Heroy was provided with the necessary assistance and rehabilitation, after which he more or less began to walk with the help of crutches, and immediately returned home to Ukraine, to his native Kharkiv.

Now Oleksandr is in urgent need of a right upper limb prosthesis and further rehabilitation. Unfortunately, the funds allocated by the state are not enough for the prosthesis necessary for Olesandra's needs. The state allocates only UAH 369,682, and another UAH 274,242 is not enough for the necessary prosthesis.

Prosthetics will be performed in Kharkiv, in Oleksandr's hometown, and a prosthesis with a myoelectric brush will be installed.
