Wounds of undeclared war-2

Recently the CF "Open Heart Ukraine" initiated the project "Wounds of undeclared war" to purchase the Negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) to cure soldiers' wounds of Kharkov Military Hospital. Due to the large public support as well as a valuable discount of provider, this task was finished prematurely and is 01/08/2014 2 sets of supplies were transferred to the hospital. This success encourages us to continue the project. We aim to raise funds for another 5 sets: more devices – more lives will be saved!

Most of wounded soldiers are sent to Kharkiv military hospital. After that decision is made: whether to make a surgery or to transport him to the capital. Will the soldier survive during the transportation? Doctors lose precious time; irreversible processes occur in wounds, risk of death because of sepsis increases tenfold. We lose our soldiers due to reasons we can avoid.

The situation with seriously injured soldiers can be changed with at least a few sets of vacuum therapy of wounds systems. Therefore for every 1 UAH raised the CF "Open Hearts of Ukraine" will add 1 UAH.

Negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is a therapeutic technique using a vacuum dressing to promote healing in acute or chronic wounds and to enhance healing of first and second degree burns.

NPWT is actively used while treating:

• Open wounds of the chest and abdomen

• Extensive trauma of soft tissues

• Acute soft-tissue suppurative-inflammatory diseases

• Chronic and acute wounds of various etiologies

• Pressure ulcers, venous and diabetic ulcers

• Burns, including the deep ones those of a large size

It is necessary to collect 100 572 UAH to purchase vacuum pumps (5 pcs.) + consumables. To achieve this goal we will transfer the remaining funds from the project "Wounds of undeclared war", which is 24 112.59 UAH.
