New member of the program
Let us introduce you to a new member of the "Rehabilitation of Cyborgs" program.
Yuriy, call sign WRITER, was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on June 24, 2022, the day of his birth. I spent about a month studying and gaining experience. And later, as part of the 42nd separate rifle battalion of the Cherkasy Sich Riflemen, he went on combat missions in the Donetsk direction.
On October 3, 2023, together with his brothers, Yuriy was on the defense of positions. The enemy was on the offensive.
"Unfortunately, they were outnumbered. There was heavy artillery fire from the Russians for 2 days. On the night of the third day I received my wound. I remained conscious the whole time. Enemy shrapnel pierced my spinal cord, lung and fractured a rib. The worst part was waiting. I "I lay there for 6 hours before the evacuation group reached me. There were different opinions. The first one was that they would find me, because falling into the hands of the enemy is the greatest fear" - Yuriy notes.
With the heavy efforts of the evacuation team, Yuriy was taken out of the shelling, because he could not move his legs at all. When the condition was stabilized, Yuriy was transported to the city of Dnipro. In the hospital named after Mechnikov PYSARYA was operated on and the fragments were removed.
Then rehabilitation began. First there was Ivano-Frankivsk, where I got into a wheelchair for the first time, then the rehabilitation center in Irpin.
Currently, Yuriy needs rehabilitation at the "Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center" of the National Committee for Disabled Sports of Ukraine, because now he needs to learn to be completely independent, given the injury he received. "My goal is to learn the technique of driving a wheelchair, overcoming various barriers, climbing stairs, transferring from the floor to a wheelchair and much more. I also need to increase the strength of the muscles in my hands, because they are my main driving force now " - says Yuriy.
Every hryvnia transferred to the project "Rehabilitation of CYBORGS" helps us return seriously injured servicemen to an active life.
