The renovation in the Mother and Child Centre

The Mother and Child Centre is created by the Charity Foundation "Aspern". This is a safe place for single mothers, pregnant women, ones that have lost their home, women who had experienced violence, who are not able to support themselves and their children, who have no one else to ask for help, who is facing the problems on her own. At the same time, the Center can accommodate no more than 5 women (mothers) and 7 children, a total of 12 places.

The Mother and Child Centre gives hope for bright future for such mothers, helps to be back on feet, provides a temporary shelter, food, psychological help for pregnant women, mothers and children. During the war this kind of help is highly required as the number of mothers in need of safety only increases.

Unfortunately, we have had to temporarily close the Mother and Baby Center because the space is in need of minor but very important renovations. Before that, the Center housed women from Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as 2 women and 1 child - IDPs from Donetsk. We found a new temporary shelter for mothers with children: some people were evacuated to Zakarpattia, some went abroad, and some stayed in Kyiv.

As the centre keeps on working the high humidity has made the premises not suitable for living and the kitchen and bathroom not suitable for usage. The fact is that the Center is located above the basement, where the ventilation system does not work well, besides, at the beginning of the full-scale war, the residents of the Center were afraid to open the windows, so over time, fungus appeared on the walls in the rooms. We cannot handle the situation by ourselves as we need specialists for the renovation. We are planning on: preparation and putting up new wallpapers/ painting the walls, repairing the bathroom, changing the shower cabin, etc. in the minimum terms (1-2 months). We have to do this before the weather gets cold and we need to raise the funds as quick as possible for this project. The nights are getting colder in autumn and mothers with children and pregnant women would not be able to have a shelter to go to.

Today we need your financial help for the renovation, considering the suggestions of pregnant women and mothers, in buying building supplies and payment for work of construction workers.
