Andriy Yaroslavskiy became the eighth child in Ukraine diagnosed with CGD (chronic granulomatous disease, a rare congenital disease). It is difficult to diagnose it as well as hard to treat it. Only under constant medical supervision and by taking medications a child can be led to approximate full life. The bone marrow transplantation is the only method of treatment for complete recovery of the girl. The child should be healthy to make this operation, Andriy needs strong anti-fungal drugs to move forward on his way to health recovery.

Andriy was born on New Year's eve, bringing untold joy to his parents. Yaroslavskiy’s family has lived 28 days of happy life full of pleasant care. But Andriy’s mother Marina was alarmed when pustules and consults on the child's body appeared and visited a doctor. After medical tests in hospital doctors diagnosed pneumonia. Three weeks long the infant was treated with antibiotics, and the results were always bad. The tomography at the Regional Hospital showed the formation in the lungs. Doctors supposed that it is a tumor and offered to have surgery. The surgeon was going to remove only two areas in the lower lobe of the lung but couldn't operate in a such way, so he removed all the lower lobe of the lung.

Andriy’s family hoped that it's over when taking their child from the hospital. The tests were good. But after 2 weeks the test was done again, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) rose neither to 50 mm/h. Doctors couldn't diagnose the case. They suspected tuberculosis and fungal infection. Marina asked doctors to send the baby for checkup to Kiev. But doctors were not in a hurry with actions. After keeping the child in the hospital the doctors have sent the girl to Clinical Immunology Children's Center in Kyiv.

In April, Andriy was examined in Kiev Immunology Center and a diagnosis was made: primary immunodeficiency and chronic granulomatous disease. Now the baby is being treated with anti-infective drugs. Andriy can't be in the sunlight, and should be extremely careful because of not to have a new infection. Kyiv doctors decided that it is not a tumor, but a fungal infection is. The infection remains in the upper part of the operated lung and develops.

Andriy is still too small to say how he wants to live. His wide blue eyes look at the world with hope and expectation. Life is so beautiful and he should see his future. For primary treatment, Andriy needs "Vfend"antifungal drug, the price of one bottle of which is 1 800 UAH. For the course 7 bottles is needed. The total amount of the fundraising is 12 600 UAH.
