Caritas Sambir-Drohobych Diocese of Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church invites everyone to mercy!

Christmas, comfort, warmth, Christmas Eve kutia with honey, fragrant donuts and our Galician rolls with poppy seeds and jam... These "delicious lines" evoke memories of childhood. And how to be the one who has nothing to remember and feel?! We must take care of such things with you, so that the spirit of Christmas night does not pass from any poor soul. Because what could be worse, when on such wonderful holidays, full of joy, aromas of freshly prepared dinner, sincere family prayer, someone can be hungry, frozen, deprived of attention, love, and especially mercy… Do not stand aside! Let's be merciful! Help us raise funds for the "Takeaway Christmas Dinner for the homeless" project for 20 persone!

Caritas Sambir-Drohobych Diocese of Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church is a charitable, public non-profit organization. The name for this organization was chosen not by chance. The word "caritas" comes from the Greek language and means "merciful love." It is clear that the mission of Caritas is to develop Love for the most needy people. Now, in this winter period, our priority is not to leave the most needy disadvantaged people (120 people) without dinner… Holy Dinner, a sense of celebration and family comfort.

For many years now, Caritas together with Our House, a mutual aid community, has been taking care of lonely homeless and low-income people on Christmas winter days, becoming their Real Family on this wonderful evening. According to our annual observations, 120 people come to us for the Holy Supper. These are people who are temporarily on the streets (homeless people), elderly poor people, and low-income families in difficult life circumstances.

We responsibly understand that now, as never before, it is difficult to organize a dinner for these needy people in a cozy room, where the participants of the Charity Christmas Dinner could not only taste Christmas Eve dishes, but also communicate with each other in warmth and understanding. Given all the quarantine circumstances, we can only take care of takeaway Christmas Eve meals for the needy people.

All donated funds will be used to purchase products and prepare Christmas dishes, as well as to pack them in disposable containers for takeaway. Each takeaway set (dinner) will consist of 12 traditional lean Christmas dishes: kutia with honey, raisins and nuts, lean borscht, donuts, dumplings with potatoes, peas with cabbage and onions, vinaigrette, cabbage rolls with potatoes, mushroom sauce, marinated fish, fried fish, compote of dried fruits, bread.

We invite everyone to mersy and love! Let's give the homeless a Christmas!
