A long-awaited child for his parents, Mykola grew up an active boy from birth, interested in the world, easily made friends, and enjoyed going to kindergarten. With the outbreak of full-scale war in February 2022, Mykola's family was forced to leave their native Kharkiv for a village in Poltava region. There, the boy went to the first grade of an art school and studied pottery. In addition to his favorite pottery, Mykola excelled in math and English.
But in the late summer of last year, the family suffered a real disaster. Mykola became very ill, and his parents took him to the hospital. Local doctors sent the boy by ambulance to Poltava. At the Poltava Children's Hospital, Mykola was already in critical condition. He was immediately placed in intensive care and given a terrible diagnosis of insulin-dependent diabetes. The family was filled with fear and confusion about how to live on. The cheerful child became an adult in one day. The shock of what he went through has not yet passed.
Now Mykola goes to the third grade and is the first in his class. He helps his mother well around the house, and now he is learning to cook – it calms him down a lot. He loves football, but now doctors do not allow him to play it. Now Mykola is learning to live in a new way, but it requires measuring his sugar level 8-10 times a day. His poor fingers can't stand it. Mykola really needs sensors for measuring sugar. In the village, there are very few jobs, and most of the money his father earns is spent on rent. The family has no money to buy the sensors.
The boy's mother asks for help from those who care to make life easier for her only son.
