Roma is the first child of young Alexander and Tatiana. They wanted and expected him so much. Mother conscientiously underwent all necessary medical tests, US examinations, kept to a diet. All conducted tests showed that the pregnancy was proceeding the way it should and the newborn child would be healthy. And then it was time to go to thematernity hospital and here the life of young parents became a nightmare.

Tanya felt abdominal pains; they began to stimulate the delivery. The hours were passing by but delivery stimulation gave no results. Tanya’s mother and her husband were asking doctors to stop tormenting the baby and Tanya, to conduct cesarean section but doctors refused without giving any reasons. The cesarean section was done only after the 24 hours of suffering. But that was not the end of troubles. Later mother noticed that baby’s sucking reflex is poor, he lost weight. All of a sudden the doctors of maternity hospital said that Roma hadcardiac murmurs and sent them to the hospital of the city of Cherkassy from which they were redirected to OKHMATDET (Children’s Specialized Clinic) located in Kiev.

And the chain of shocking diagnosis and sleepless nights started: hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, cerebral edema, convulsive disorder, vegetative visceral disorder, pseudobulbar syndrome, patent ductusarteriosus, cerebral spastic infantile paralysis, pneumonia…They said that the child was suffered bad birth injury.
It was explained in plain language: baby was out of breath for a long time and that’s why he was not able to come into the world without assistance; it caused considerable damage to the CNS. Cesarean section was necessary in order to save the boy…

Family returned home from Kiev and in a month happened following convulsive attacks: respiratory standstill, vomiting, cardiac arrest, second and third stages of coma… After 10 days of conducted treatment and intensified therapy Roma managed to emerge from coma, convulsions disappeared. Nonetheless doctors didn’t provide the boy with good prospect for the future, they just said the following: “The part of cerebral cortex has died out, he won’t survive…”

But as opposed to our health care professionals, German doctors gave their consent to fight for saving Roma’s life. German clinic is ready to admit Roma just now, but huge precipice separates the child from life-saving – the amount of money which is to be found in order to conduct the treatment.
Roma’s parents sure hope for our support because they have no one else to lay account for. Young family is unable to raise 123 thousand UAH without help – it’ll take them more than a year, but Roma doesn’t have that time.
