Rostik against hemophilia

Thoughtful and serious Rostik seems to be a strong and healthy boy. But he has blood problems. When he was just a one year old he received a lifetime diagnosis of hemophilia impairing the body’s ability to control blood clotting. Since then, the family worries about every bruise or scratch which without treatment may cause a complete blood loss. Rostik has a severe form of disease, so bleeding may occur spontaneously, even without injuries. To stop the hemorrhage very expensive drugs must be administered immediately.

Hemorrhage may occur any day but at the hospital thee is only one bottle of medicines for all patients who have hemophilia. As a result, in urgent cases there may be no medicines and such a hemorrhage may lead to death!

As it often happens in bid families, Rostik is independent and sociable. He easily finds what to do and a company to keep. He doesn’t go to school but although he is only 5 years old his elder brothers taught him to read and to count. Being serious boy he likes logic activities: puzzles, construction games, transformers. His disease will accompany him during all his life but if promptly treated the boy will live a long and quality life.

Big family lives very modestly. Rostik huddles together with his parents and six siblings in a one-room apartment in the dormitory. The mother raises children and the father does some odd jobs related to construction works. Rostik’s younger brother Nazarko has hemophilia too. That’s why the family goes to the hospital very often: they either have nosebleeds or hemorrhages of the joints. To help Nazarko a blood factor has to be injected and that’s enough but Rostik needs an expensive drug Novoseven. Before they received medication from the public procurement but the stocks had exhausted. The family doesn’t have money to pay for treatment. That’s why the boy’s family together with all the other patients with the same diagnosis is looking forward to the arrival of delayed supplies from the public procurement. But now their hope is kind-hearted people who are ready to help!
