The world of thirteen-year-old Sasha consists of his home, his mother, and his brother. And bright spots—balloons. Alexander loves them very much, so his older brother often inflates them for his younger brother. And his mother takes care of Sasha and looks for ways to support him.

In 2023, Alexander was diagnosed with a rare degenerative disease of the central nervous system: leukodystrophy. Finally, it became clear why his condition was getting worse.

At that time, a tracheostomy was performed to enable him to breathe. A week later, a gastrostomy was performed because the child could no longer swallow. Since then, Sasha has been receiving only enteral nutrition with Nutrison multy fibre. 60 cans per month cost 28,757 UAH.

In addition to food, he needs diapers, wet wipes, gastrostomy and tracheostomy tubes, syringes, catheters, and medication to support digestion every day. This costs another 16,565 UAH per month.

Sashko is currently undergoing treatment prescribed by a gastroenterologist because his body does not absorb nutrients well. The boy used to cry when he was in pain. Now his mother can tell by the trembling of his hands and feet.

His father is not involved in the child's life. All the care falls on the shoulders of his mother, Svitlana, and her older son, 16-year-old Kostya.
