At the end of September, Roman turned one year old. From the first days of his life, the baby has been fighting for a healthy heart. Already in the maternity hospital, doctors diagnosed the child with a congenital heart defect — a patent ductus arteriosus. This was a difficult test for the family. Their older son, Vadim, who is now 11 years old, was also diagnosed with a heart defect.

Two children needed expensive treatment at once. The family has four sons. Roman is the youngest. The family's only source of income is his father's salary, as his mother Kateryna is on maternity leave and takes care of the children. It is financially impossible for the family to pay for the implants on their own.

Thanks to the donors of the NATUREL campaign “The Most Valuable Birthday Gift,” an implant was purchased for Roman.
On September 30, 2025, at the M.M. Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, Roman Shcherba, born on September 20, 2024, from the Vinnytsia region, underwent a successful operation to close a heart defect with an occluder. The cost of the implant is 49,500 UAH.

The operation saved Roman's little heart and gave him a chance for a healthy childhood.
