Serhiy wants to have support

We have known Serhii for a very long time. We have previously paid for rehabilitation courses, a wheelchair, medicines and special food for the boy. The boy does not walk on his own, although he really needs verticalization. That's why Serhiy's mother Olesya asked us to raise money to buy a multifunctional Baffin trio Stander chair.

Serhii was born at 32 weeks of pregnancy. There was a tight entanglement of the umbilical cord, so the brain suffered from oxygen starvation. The first diagnosis appeared on the card, followed by others: secondary optic atrophy, cerebral palsy, subluxation of the left hip joint, neuromuscular scoliosis.

Olesia is raising her son alone. As long as her health allowed, she regularly took Serhii to specialized centers for rehabilitation. But in February 2024, her gallbladder was removed, and doctors banned her from lifting more than 3 kg for six months. Therefore, the woman herself massages her son and performs physical therapy.

Serhii knows how to roll over and stand with support. He still cannot sit or walk. Serhii has very poor eyesight, so he perceives information with the help of his ears. The boy loves to listen to music, birdsong, recognizes his mother’s voice and reacts emotionally. Serhii cannot speak: during childbirth, the part of the brain responsible for the perception and reproduction of speech was damaged.

Any loud sound, especially an explosion, causes stress in Serhii, which leads to more frequent and intensified epileptic seizures. In April, because of this, he had to be hospitalized and his anticonvulsants changed. Now he is taking Depakine Chrono and Levitsam.
