A chance for the first breath

The intensive care units of Ivano-Frankivsk City Clinical Hospital №1* fight for the lives of the most serious preterm infants every day – those born before they have had time to form. These babies have the most vulnerable lungs – they are the ones who are most often not ready to work on their own. The first breath for these babies is not only a symbol of the beginning of life, it is a struggle. A struggle for oxygen, for every second, for the development of the brain, heart, and organs. And without a ventilator, this fight would have been lost before it even began.

Thanks to foreign benefactors, the medical institution received four modern Servo-Air ventilators. This equipment is high-tech, high-quality, and can work with patients of any age, including infants weighing less than 1500 grams. But these devices have been in storage for a long time, so they need to be put into operation. And until the technical procedures are completed, they cannot be used to save lives.

To put the ventilators into operation, it is critical and urgent to pay for installation services, complete diagnostics using a service tool, update the software, test each device, and train staff to work with the equipment. All of this is handled by specialized engineering companies. These are standard but important procedures that the hospital does not have the funds for.
