Happy childhood for Az
The young girl Aza, who lives in the Kharkov Region of the Ukraine has a rare name and a rare genetic disorder--cystic fibrosis. This illness affects the entire body, including lungs, the digestive system, and the liver. Children with cystic fibrosis can survive and grow only if they get daily treatment--pills, breathing treatments, special exercises...
But Aza's mother is not able to pay for everything her daughter needs, because Aza's parents live in a small village and also take care of their older son, who is also a special-needs child...
Young Aza does not yet understand all the difficulties her parents have to overcome every day. She lives in a loving environment, and is fond of visiting her grandmother, where she can run around the yard as much as she wants, and to bottle-feed the young lambs. "If we let her, she'd be hugging and kissing all of the farm animals", her mother Natalya tells us, smiling.
Talkative, active Aza is happy that the warm weather is here--she runs as fast as she can to meet the other children outside, to play in the sandbox, swing on the swings, chase the ball around...to race the toy cars with the neighbours' children. It's easy to be happy when one is young.
At this time, we cannot cure Aza--no medications to cure cystic fibrosis have been invented so far. But there is a system, a lifestyle, with the help of which a child with cystic fibrosis can lead a normal life. One only has to stick to the rules: to comply with the daily exercise regimen, and to take all the necessary medications on time.
We are asking you to help pay for a home trampoline for Aza--it is a great aid with her exercise and physical therapy--and for the medications, which are essential for Aza to take.
Her mother Natalya worries about the fact that she cannot pay for all of Aza's needs by herself. Now, when Aza is still young, when her body is going to grow and change at a rapid pace, any missed treatment will have an especially major negative impact, and the consequences can be irreversible...
Which is why we simply cannot allow that to happen. We want Aza's happy childhood to continue into a happy adolescence and a happy adulthood... Please help her today.
