"Only a lucky chance and faith can help him," that is what doctors said about the future life of newborn Daniil.

Dania came into the world at 30 weeks, weighing just 1,260 g – tiny and so fragile. The doctors gave him a minimal chance of survival. In the first days of his life, the boy received two blood transfusions. He could not breathe independently – he was connected to a ventilator and spent a long time in intensive care. In his third month, he underwent eye surgery. And at two years old came a diagnosis that turned everything upside down: cerebral palsy with impaired statics and gait, spastic tetraparesis, and delayed mental and speech development.

Dania is now 7 years old. Thanks to persistent effort and regular sessions at a rehabilitation center, he can stand unsteadily at a support and walk with assistance.

"After treatment, Dania's overall condition improved – he began to control his body and movements better. His balance improved. His legs relaxed somewhat from muscle spasticity. His left leg began to step onto the foot, and his right leg, with his own effort, can also come down. The efforts were not in vain. The progress is obvious," says Daniil's mother.

Dania is an open and kind child who enjoys school and has friends. But during active games he feels sad – because he cannot keep up with his peers as freely as he would like.
