Prematurely born children cannot breathe through the mouth due to their physiological characteristics. They breathe only through the nose! After birth, such a child is on artificial ventilation for some time, because an epithelium of the child's respiratory tract is damaged, though it is restored over time. This damaged epithelium, along with the mucus that is physiologically produced in the respiratory tract, exudes and rises to the upper respiratory tract (nasopharynx, mouth, nose). Mucus (sputum) accumulates and creates an obstacle to the air that the child breathes.

The child can not breathe effectively, and on its own, by coughing, cannot get rid of mucus, so for the sanitation (cleaning) of the upper respiratory tract, an electrical aspirator is required! The nasal passages of a premature baby are very narrow (see tiny noses of children weighing 1,500 grams at birth), – even a drop of sputum can simply block them, the adult, in this case, will open his mouth and will breathe, and the newborn can not do that. Very often when sputum enters the nasopharynx of a tiny baby, apnea occurs – breathing stops. And in this situation, an electric aspirator will be vital!

Sometimes cases occur with children who did not require artificial ventilation of lungs or with almost in-term born infants, – natural regurgitation. When discharging a part of the milk also falls into the upper respiratory tract and overlaps air. And one of the main justifications, if there is an urgent situation from which nobody is insured, it is necessary to release the upper respiratory tract from any obstacles before doing artificial respiration and heart massage. With the help of an electric aspirator, this cleaning can be done quickly and painlessly!

What is an electric aspirator? It is a special medical device that creates a vacuum, through which all the mucus (anything that interferes with breathing) is aspirated (cleaned, sucked) from the upper respiratory tract. It is important that pressure is exerted on the aspirator (dilution), this is the force of suction. It is necessary in order not to aspirate the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract with the sputum. It sounds scary, but, unfortunately, the mucous membrane of the bracelet is soft and tender, and it's very easy to damage. Therefore, everything needs precision. And the power of vacuum is a very important nuance.

Let's help small patients from the Department of intensive therapy of new-born of Zaporizhzhia Regional Perinatal Center to breathe freely due to the availability of an electric aspirator in the hospital!
