To make his own step

Bogdanchyk was born prematurely. No sooner had the boy taken his first breath of air he was transported to the intensive care ward. And terrible routine of the intensive care started: needles, catheters, medication. Then there was an unknown diagnosis: hydrocephalus. Exhausted parents asked the doctors "Will our son survive?" but their only response was shrugging their shoulders. There was only hope for a miracle and for people that can make this dream come true!

The boy was transported from one intensive care ward to the other but this time to the Institute of Neurosurgery in the capital of Ukraine. Then there were two surgeries, complications, sleepless nights. However, Bogdan survived and after a long treatment went home.

But it was not over. After coming from the hospital the boy couldn’t sit, his chest was deformed, the muscle tone was high and there was a new diagnosis: tetraparesis. The doctors recommended riabilitation. The parents went everywhere starting from physiotherapy rooms and finishing with rehabilitation centers. Some therapies helped, the others didn’t. The family was recommended to undergo rehabilitation at the special center in Truskavets. Nobody expected dramatic improvements. But after four days Bogdan changed a lot: he could stand on his feet and a high muscle tone released. After completing treatment the boy’s posture was corrected, he began to keep his head better, his movements became more conscious and relaxed.

However, it is not enough… Bogdan needs rehabilitation treatment to consolidate the results he had achieved. But the family doesn’t have money for it. If the rehabilitation wouldn’t be performed all the previous results would disappear.

The boy has survived a lot of times during these 2 years. He has overcome his disease but he cannot stand on his feet. The parents hope that the rehabilitation that has already produced some results will help Bogdan to run and to play like all other kids. The boy deserves to be an ordinary child full of mischief but he needs our help. The help for Bogdan to make his own step!
