Tymur is now 9 years old. He is an extremely kind, bright, and sincere child. He loves building with LEGO and does so at an adult level – attentively, intently, and with great enthusiasm. He has many friends, is open to people, and always tries to support others, even though it is not easy for him.
For over three years, Tymur has been living with type 1 diabetes, a disease that requires constant monitoring without breaks or days off. Every day is a constant struggle, responsibility, and anxiety for the child's life. Tymur's diabetes is very unpredictable. He often experiences sudden hypoglycemia for no apparent reason, which poses a serious threat to his health and life. That is why round-the-clock monitoring of his blood sugar levels is vital for him. Any cold or other illness immediately affects his readings, and unfortunately, Tymur gets sick quite often.
Despite his age, the boy is very brave. He patiently endures injections, glucose measurements, restrictions, and lives with diabetes "like an adult". But sometimes Tymur quietly asks, "Mom, why me?". And in those moments, his mother’s heart aches because she has no answer to that question.
Tymur's mother is raising him on her own. They are originally from the Zaporizhzhia region, but due to the war, they were forced to leave their home and start a new life in unfamiliar surroundings. Along with the difficulties of moving, the family struggles daily with an illness that knows no weekends or breaks. All questions regarding Tymur's treatment and disease management rest on his mother's shoulders. The costs associated with constant diabetes monitoring are significant and ongoing.
His mother is asking for help to provide Tymur with continuous glucose monitoring sensors. This is not a luxury, but a matter of safety and the chance to respond to dangerous situations in time. Let's give this child peace of mind and his mother the confidence that her son is safe.
