Maksym is now 5 years old and lives with his parents in Dnipro, where the family was forced to move from their native village of Boikivske in the Kalmiuskyi district of Donetsk region.

Maksym regularly works with a speech therapist, a deaf educator, and a neuropsychologist. The boy can count to twenty, tries to speak in sentences, and is learning the alphabet, but he has difficulty recognizing sounds. His speech development corresponds to that of a three-year-old child, but Maksymko tries his best to understand what people are saying to him so that he can communicate with other children.

At the Dnipro medical and diagnostic center “Sluh-Service,” Maksym was fitted with modern Oticon Intent 1 MINIRITE hearing aids for both ears. For a family where only the father works, this is an unaffordable amount. His mother has devoted herself entirely to caring for her son.
