Artem is the youngest child in the family. The boy was born with the weight of a real hero, so he saw the world through a cesarean section. He grew like all children, later he began to attend kindergarten. But at the age of five, the boy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Artem no longer went to kindergarten – his parents were afraid, and the teachers were not ready to take responsibility.
When Artem went to first grade, the difficulties continued. At that time, the family was just learning to live with this disease, they were just figuring out how to properly monitor the child's condition. Mom planned to be there at all times and, if necessary, adjust the sugar level. But the teacher was categorically against mom's expectations, even in the hallway. Artem was not allowed to measure sugar in the classroom in the presence of other children. Mom had to intervene, contact the director. Artem was given a separate room for measuring sugar, for insulin injections. In that room, too, the mother could be during lessons.
So the family gradually learned to live with diabetes. Now Artem can already give himself an injection and measure his sugar. His friends know about his disease. He can calmly prick his finger in their presence and check his glucose level. The children ask questions, and Artemchyk boldly answers and explains.
Artem’s grandparents perceive Artem’s illness very painfully, sometimes they cry when they see how he feels bad, but they cannot help. It hurts to look at his pricked fingers…
Artem’s pets distract him from constant sugar measurements and insulin injections, because he loves animals very much. Recently, the boy signed up for boxing – he really likes it. Artem is engaged remotely. He really misses communication with children, with peers, he misses his classmates.
Artem has an older brother and sister, but they are already adults. He wants friends his own age – to run, play, laugh. But even during a game or a walk, his blood sugar can drop sharply – and again his fingers are pricked, again the pain. This is how the boy lives every day – he learns to be strong and not give up. Constant monitoring sensors can help him.
