Shelter for refugees in the Dnipro. 2

3,735 people – that's how many people our Shelter near Dnipro in the Novooleksandrivska territorial community has received in more than a year, from the very beginning of spring 2022 to the end of April 2023. And it continues to do so.

Already on the second day of the war, we, the staff of the CF "Pomogaem" and active residents of the Novooleksandrivska territorial community bought and delivered to the future Shelter beds, blankets and bed linen. And on the third day of the war, Shelter received the first internally displaced persons.

They came to Dnipro in waves: Kherson region, Kharkiv region, Severodonetsk, Mariupol. First of all, we accepted families with children and people with disabilities. Of course, family-type orphanages and just orphanages. One night in early March there were 240 people here. Usually there are up to 150.

They rest here for a few days from the war, sleep, get fed, receive clothes and household items for the first time and plan their further movements. As far as possible, we help them in this: to find a longer-term accommodation in the West of Ukraine or to go to Europe.

What is in our Shelter: beds with clean bed linen and warm blankets, three delicious hot meals a day, showers, laundry, psychological support for children and adults, art therapy, entertainment with our funny hospital clowns. Fresh air in a quiet village and an extremely beautiful landscape. Relative calm.

Keeping Shelter during these months costs tens of millions of hryvnias. About UAH 300,000 is spent monthly on food, hygiene products, necessary household goods, animal feed, etc. For the most necessary medicines (blood pressure, cardiovascular, antiviral, nasal drops, antipyretic, painkillers) – about UAH 30 000. For the organization of Shelter’s work – UAH 120 000.

Now we are looking for support for Shelter for the next 2 months: UAH 900 000. We believe that kind magicians will allow us to continue to work and provide a cozy, hospitable place of rest to all those affected by the war!
