Strength for a Little Dreamer

      Due to the stress experienced by his mother, Viktoria, Andriy was born at 35 weeks’ gestation with signs of hypoxia. His discharge summary stated: hypoxic-ischaemic damage to the central nervous system. At eighteen months, the boy stopped speaking and making eye contact, began flapping his arms like wings, and became a fussy eater. Three years later, he was diagnosed with childhood autism.
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the Charitable Aid Operator Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAYEM’ dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. No. 336 of 17 September 2025, the project ‘Strength for a Little Dreamer’ was posted on the website of the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘UBB’ – dobro.ua – with the aim of raising donations to cover the cost of Andrii Kovalchuk’s treatment.
      During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds raised on the website of the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation “Ukrainian Charity Exchange” – dobro.ua – to purchase medicines and special dietary products for the boy. Therefore, in accordance with letters No. 502 dated 29 September 2025, No. 572 dated 4 November 2025, No. 75 dated 19 February 2026 and No. 167 dated 27 April 2026 we received the following amounts: 5,680.00 UAH (five thousand six hundred and eighty hryvnias, 00 kopecks), 5,000.00 UAH (five thousand hryvnias, 00 kopecks), UAH 3,523.00 (three thousand five hundred and twenty-three hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and UAH 7,200.00 (seven thousand two hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s account and continued the fundraising campaign on the dobro.ua platform.
      In 2025, we supported the young man with special dietary requirements and medication totalling 10,680.00 UAH (ten thousand six hundred and eighty hryvnias, 00 kopecks).

      This year, we have also been providing ongoing support to Andriy. In February, we purchased and delivered a supply of Nutricia Nutridrink Compact special formula for him, totalling 3,420.20 UAH (three thousand four hundred and twenty hryvnias and 20 kopecks), in March we supported him with medicines worth 102.80 UAH (one hundred and two hryvnias, 80 kopecks), and in April we ordered and delivered special nutritional supplements worth 7,117.00 UAH (seven thousand one hundred and seventeen hryvnias, 00 kopecks). 
      Andriy is in Year 2 and enjoys going to school. At home, he loves drawing and playing with toy trains, making up his own little stories and creating fantastical worlds. With the arrival of warmer days, the boy happily goes for walks outside, dreaming of a trip to the seaside. He also wants to play sports or football, but at the moment his mum cannot afford to support his wishes.
      The family is in constant contact with the doctor to ensure Andriy’s health is properly managed. The treatment is gradually yielding positive results, although the issue of weight gain remains a concern. The gastroenterologist has recommended a course of massage to improve gallbladder function. However, due to financial difficulties, it is not yet possible to pay for this course, nor to carry out the necessary tests prescribed by the geneticist.
      We plan to use the remaining unused funds of 83.00 UAH (eighty-three hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to meet the boy’s needs in 2026; the project is still raising funds.
