Strength for a Little Dreamer

    Due to the stress experienced by his mother, Viktoria, Andriy was born at 35 weeks’ gestation with signs of hypoxia. His discharge summary stated: hypoxic-ischaemic damage to the central nervous system. At one and a half years old, the boy stopped speaking and making eye contact, began flapping his arms like wings, and became a fussy eater. Three years later, he was diagnosed with childhood autism.
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the Charitable Aid Operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. No. 336 of 17 September 2025, the project ‘Strength for a Little Dreamer’ was published on the website of the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ – dobro.ua – with the aim of raising donations to cover the cost of Andrii Kovalchuk’s treatment.
      During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds raised on the website of the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ – dobro.ua – to purchase medicines and special dietary products for the boy. Therefore, in accordance with letters No. 502 dated 29 September 2025, No. 572 dated 4 November 2025, No. 75 dated 19 February 2026 and No. 167 dated 27 April 2026, we have received the following amounts raised: 5,680.00 UAH (five thousand six hundred and eighty hryvnias, 00 kopecks), 5,000.00 UAH (five thousand hryvnias, 00 kopecks), 3,523.00 UAH (three thousand five hundred and twenty-three hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and 7,200.00 UAH (seven thousand two hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) were credited to the Fund’s account, and we continued the fundraising campaign on the dobro.ua platform. A further 6,700.00 UAH (six thousand seven hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) was credited to the Fund’s account on 14 July 2026, in accordance with letter No. 305 dated 13 July 2026.
      In 2025, we provided the boy with special nutritional supplements and medicines totalling 10,680.00 UAH (ten thousand six hundred and eighty hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
      This year, we are also continuing to provide regular support to Andriy. In February, we purchased and delivered Nutricia NutriDrink Compact specialised nutrition for him, totalling 3,420.20 UAH (three thousand four hundred and twenty hryvnias, 20 kopecks). In March, we helped him purchase the necessary medicines to the value of 102.80 UAH (one hundred and two hryvnias, 80 kopecks), and in April we ordered and provided special nutritional supplements worth 7,117.00 UAH (seven thousand one hundred and seventeen hryvnias, 00 kopecks). In July, the boy again received the specialised Nutricia NutriDrink Compact formula worth 6,783.00 UAH (six thousand seven hundred and eighty-three hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
      Andriyko is getting ready for the new school year and will soon be starting Year 3. Thanks to regular lessons, the boy has noticeably improved his reading skills. At the same time, he is still experiencing some difficulties with chewing his food, which he continues to work on.
      Andriyko now has a new dream — to see the sea. He often asks his mum: ‘Let’s go to the seaside!’ Perhaps this dream will serve as a special source of motivation for him and will certainly come true.
Andriyko remains fascinated by world maps, and he is most interested in the map of his native Ukraine. He studies it with curiosity and continues to explore the world through his passion.
      As for his weight, there has been no significant gain as yet. At the same time, the special diet is yielding positive results, so Andriyko continues to follow it. Gradually, as far as possible, the boy is undergoing the necessary medical examinations, whilst the adults around him are doing their utmost to support his health and help him move forward in small but important steps.
      At present, all the funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the boy’s needs; the project is still raising funds.
