A family from Donetsk region needs support!
The Batiuk family-type orphanage is home to 10 children. The family of displaced persons from Donetsk region, who now live in Cherkasy, needs support in the form of household appliances, stationery for children and food.
"We are a family-type orphanage from Bilozerske, Donetsk region, and we were forced to move to Cherkasy because of the hostilities. We are raising 10 children, 4 biological and 6 foster children. The 2 older girls in the family already live separately and have their own families. Currently, my husband is not working, he helps to raise the children, he is an underground electrician by profession. He worked as a miner for 12 years before coming to the orphanage".
The history of this orphanage began in 2011, when Yana and Oleksandr created a foster family, and since 2014 this family has been operating as a family-type orphanage.
"I had the desire to raise children since I was a teenager," says Yana. All the children are different, they are talented, and each has a hobby: Nikita is 5 years old and attends a kindergarten in Cherkasy. The boy is fond of football, and since he was a baby, the ball has been his favorite toy.
Maksym is 6 years old and will go to first grade this year. He is currently attending kindergarten, where he takes choreography and English classes.
Ilya is in the 5th grade, and in his free time he goes rowing at a youth sports school.
Vasylyna is in the 6th grade and studies at the Olivets art studio.
Yuriy is in the 8th grade. In his free time, he is a professional actor at the Sovremennyk Theater Studio in Cherkasy.
Hanna is in the 9th grade and trains at the Adalin Oriental Dance Studio.
Olenka is a first-year student at Cherkasy State Business College, majoring in graphic design. In her free time, she takes additional classes at the "Colors of Inspiration" art school. Olena actively participated in various contests, devoted a lot of time to drawing, and as a result, she has received many different awards. This brings her great joy.
Yaryna and Gordiy, the youngest, are 8 months and 2 years old.
16-year-old Kyrylo is a 1st year student at a road school.
As part of the reform of Ukraine's boarding school system, family-type children's homes are now appearing all over the country, in other words, a separate family created at the request of a couple to provide family upbringing and cohabitation for no more than 10 orphans and children deprived of parental care. Any married couple can establish a Foster Care Family after undergoing appropriate training. This is a more modern, effective and humane form of raising children deprived of parental care.
Each family-type orphanages is controlled by the state, but unfortunately, due to the hostilities, not all needs can be met. The war is affecting the quality of life of all Ukrainians, and we are committed to providing Ukrainian children with everything they need to live and learn in order to help them become full-fledged and conscious citizens who will create our independent state tomorrow.
So, thank for this fundrasing, it is planned to purchase the following household appliances for the Batiuk family: a cooking surface, a dishwasher, and an oven. The family does not currently have all these appliances, but they are necessary for the life of a large family and provide basic needs – cooking and maintaining cleanliness, as well as a dishwasher, for example, will help save the time that the mother can spend on raising children.
