Before the war, Nikita was an active and inquisitive child who attended kindergarten with all the other children. After the fighting began, the family was forced to evacuate, leaving all their belongings behind under occupation. For a small child, this was an incredible shock – one that will remain in his memory for the rest of his life. Two years after the move, the child was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent) – a serious chronic disease that requires constant monitoring of blood glucose levels and daily insulin injections.
Nikita's day begins with an insulin injection, which is also administered before each meal. To prevent sharp fluctuations in sugar levels and the development of complications, it is vital to use continuous glucose monitoring sensors.
Unfortunately, the cost of these devices is prohibitive for the family. Their financial situation leaves much to be desired: the family lives in a rented apartment and, along with other expensive medications, cannot afford to buy the sensors, which need to be replaced regularly. Help Nikita enjoy a childhood full of wonderful experiences!
