Homeless are the part of our society. The turns of our fate are so unpredictable and severe. It is not a rare case that person only yesterday was drinking hot tea in his cozy apartment and tomorrow appeared on the street, when native town becomes foreign, cold an evil to him.

Of course many of the homeless are driving themselves to this endless labyrinth but it is does not mean that this person doesn’t need any help. In or society we got used to think that homeless are alcoholics and idlers. But social researches show us that 14% of people who live on the street do not drink alcohol at all and a unwillness to work have only 0.7% of interviewed. Among homeless only 10% choose such way to live. On the first view we perceive them as outsiders but they are our compatriots an to this condition people are driven by the life events. The life on the streets is very severe and hard. To find shelter for night people must in different places: railway stations, in doorways, on benches. The feeling of hunger is constant, homeless have to ask for food, and this fact cannot drive to the self-respect. The clothes because of such life become dirty and they have to find another somewhere. A person on his feet every time, he has no addition shoes and various illnesses of feet appear. Their targets in life are lost, there is no place to go. They were asking for help but were not heard by anyone that’s why they lost a belief that somebody can help them. But most people with help can raise and come back to life.

How to help homeless and not to harm him or yourself?

Call a “hot number” +380 067-911-7-911, tell operator about homeless who needs an urgent help. Having got a call the stuff of “Homeless Rescue Service” goes to the place and provides medical and social help (hot meal, clothes, shoes, etc.) to the homeless. Also if it is necessary transfers homeless to the shelter or social center where person can get a rehabilitation and return to the normal life.

A timetable of the “Homeless Rescue Service”: every day, without holydays from 9:00 till 21:00. In the period of severe frosts if it is necessary Service provides night changes.

Every day the auto of the Service “eats” over 16 l. of fuel during providing help on hot calls and making patrolling over Kiev. It is the main clause of the expenditures of this project. Help us to raise 10 147 UAH for December to let Service to provide its noble mission.
