In 2015, Sofia's family moved from Donetsk to Myrhorod, Poltava region. Getting used to the new environment, finding and renting housing, living as an IDP – all of this directly affected Sofia and her mother, who is raising her daughter alone. Two years ago, when Sofia was 7 years old, doctors diagnosed her with insulin-dependent diabetes. The family's life again required significant changes.
Today, in addition to constant insulin injections, Sofia receives more than 20 finger pricks every day to analyze her blood sugar. Unfortunately, Sofia's sugar level “jumps” quite often. Due to poor control, the girl feels unwell and cannot attend school. And most importantly, these “jumps” are very harmful to the child's body. Continuous monitoring sensors can make life easier for the girl and her mother, but they have to buy them themselves. Sofia needs constant supervision, they have no relatives, and her mother has to be with her daughter all the time. The family has no money for the sensors, so her mother asks for help.
