Solomiya's eyesight can be restored

11-year-old Solomiika was born with congenital cataracts in both eyes. Doctors discovered the disease when she was less than a month old. Unfortunately, the girl inherited the disease genetically from her mother. Already at the age of 3 months, Solomiya underwent the first cataract surgery on one eye, and at 6 months – on the other. Since then, the girl has begun to learn about the world, because before the surgery she could hardly see anything and did not react to anything.

But the girl's vision remained very poor. The girl was treated in a hospital, periodically visited ophthalmologists in Lutsk, and at the age of 2.5 Solomiya was prescribed glasses. With glasses, the girl's vision improved a little. The child grew up and at the age of 7 went to a regular school. Her mother was worried about how her daughter would study, because she herself was living with the disease. But Solomiia proved to be diligent - she read, wrote and did math very well.

Now Solomiia is in the 5th grade. She is an “excellent student”, although her studies are very difficult. She also attends a music school where she learns to play the piano. Solomiia's family is very unusual. Her mother has 5 children: Solia is the oldest, nine-year-old Yana, five-year-old Myroslava, and twins Makar and Zlata. Unfortunately, all of them, except for Yana, have the same vision problems.

After going through the same stage of treatment with twin babies in Lutsk, the doctor saw the negative dynamics of Makar's treatment and sent the mother and son to Kyiv for additional examination. Makar was operated on at OKHMATDYT, and the surgery went well! When the mother was on her way with her son for a postoperative check-up, they decided to take Solomiya with them, hoping that she could be helped in Kyiv.

After examining the girl, the doctor assured her that in time it would be possible to replace Solomiya's lenses. The girl has a chance to improve her eyesight! But the family has no money for the surgeries, which need to be performed on both eyes. They are also unable to raise such a sum in this difficult time. Solomiya's only hope is for philanthropists.
