Even before little Kira was born, she was diagnosed with a spinal defect (spina bifida), so she underwent surgery immediately after birth. During the procedure, the spina bifida was repaired and the vertebral arches were fused. The happy mother and her daughter were discharged home just two weeks later.
Time passed, but Kira’s health issues persisted; she was later diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia. Treatment was initiated, of course, but the dysplasia progressed to bilateral subluxations. To enable the girl to stand and walk on her own, she underwent three joint surgeries in 2019. Afterward, Kira began moving around in orthoses.
Fortunately, rehabilitation is helping improve the girl’s condition: with each visit to the specialized center, she becomes stronger, more resilient, and emotionally more stable. Kira is now better at interacting with others; she has learned new words and has a desire to gain more knowledge.
Kira is now 9 years old. She still has difficulty speaking and has a limited vocabulary; she walks in orthoses while holding onto a handrail and is afraid of animals. However, Kira shows a zest for life and wants to be a healthy girl like her peers, and for that, she needs to continue her rehabilitation. That is why we are launching a fundraiser for new rehabilitation and are asking for your support!
