Old age is (NO) fun
From the first days of the war, the CF "Caritas SDD" in Drohobych (Lviv region) has sheltered dozens of people who have experienced the horrors of war. Currently, we are home to 70 elderly single internally displaced people, 20 of whom are disabled.
Each of our residents has their own story. They are not similar to each other, but they have one thing in common: each person was brought here by difficult life circumstances. Some were driven out of their homes by their children, while others have no family left; some have lost their homes, while others have never had one and have been living on the streets; they all came from different regions of Ukraine, fleeing the war and looking for a safe place. At the same time, in the shelter, you can meet really bright people who greet and see you off with a smile because they feel that someone needs them.
Many elderly people lose the ability to self-care and function independently due to somatic or mental illness. They need a person to help, guide, and care for them.
As of today, we are taking care of 20 bedridden people who need constant care. As part of this project, we plan to purchase 100 packs of diapers for 20 adults, which will last us for 2 months. This will greatly facilitate the work of our social workers, and bedridden patients will continue to receive decent care.
We would like to appeal to everyone who cares about the fate of the elderly! A respectful and socially responsible attitude towards the elderly is a guarantee of the well-being of the next generation that will take their place in the future.
