Eleven-year-old Maksym has always been a cheerful, restless boy. With the start of the full-scale invasion, his family had to endure occupation. It was very stressful for the child. He developed many fears and deep scars, both psychological and physical. After the de-occupation of his native village, the boy's mother began to notice that he had changed: he began to sleep poorly at night and became lethargic. Last summer, the child had to endure another stressful event – his father, a soldier, was seriously wounded. Maksym was very concerned about his father's condition.
All this stress took a toll on the boy's health. Last September, his mother noticed that Maksym constantly wanted to sleep and often complained of feeling unwell. Without hesitation, she called an ambulance. At the hospital, they learned that Maksym had type 1 diabetes. Since starting treatment, the child's condition has improved, but he needs ongoing treatment. Over time, his vision began to deteriorate and he developed obsessive-compulsive disorder. Doctors prescribed an age-appropriate diet and insulin replacement therapy.
Now Maksym needs to strictly follow his diet, and he cannot live without constant sugar monitoring, so he really needs monitoring sensors. His mother is raising her son on her own and cannot cope with the financial burden. Please support this family in these difficult times!
