A world of sounds for Sonia

   Sofia has bilateral sensorineural hearing loss: her right ear cannot hear at all, and her left ear can only hear loud sounds from close range.
Her parents noticed her hearing problems when she was three years old: she did not speak and did not respond to her name. At the age of four, the girl was diagnosed with bilateral deafness.
   In accordance with cooperation agreement No. 21 between the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Foundation and the charity operator Pomagaem Charitable Foundation dated 31 August 2020 and additional agreement No. 21.307 dated 31 March 2025, the project ‘A World of Sounds for Sonya’ was posted on the website dobro.ua with the aim of attracting charitable donations to pay for hearing aids for Sofia Diriavka.
   The initial amount to be raised was UAH 173,019.00 (one hundred and seventy-three thousand nineteen hryvnias, 00 kopecks). When the entire amount needed to purchase hearing aids for Sofia was raised on two information platforms: the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Foundation and the Pomagaem Charitable Foundation, the doctor announced that the cost of the necessary hearing aid model had increased significantly.
   Therefore, according to the new invoice dated 22 December 2025, the cost of the hearing aids was changed to 173,532.00 UAH (one hundred and seventy-three thousand five hundred and thirty-two hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
   After that, we contacted our regular partners, the Ukrainian Charity Exchange Charitable Foundation (dobro.ua), with a request to close the fundraiser and reduce the project amount on the UBB to the actual amount raised – 34,748.64 UAH (thirty-four thousand seven hundred and forty-eight hryvnias, 64 kopecks), and to transfer the funds to our current account to pay for hearing aids and project administration, in accordance with letter No. 673 dated 23 December 2025.
   Before the New Year, we purchased and delivered two long-awaited Oticon XCEED PLAY 1 BTE SP hearing aids for Sonya. The girl is very pleased with their quality. She now hears much better, even when she is at a distance or when the room is quiet. This has greatly improved her communication and interaction with those around her. 
   In addition, the family went to the centre, where specialists helped connect the devices to her phone. This opens up new opportunities for her – now she can hear everything that is played on the device without any unnecessary interference. 
   The family is sincerely grateful to everyone who made an effort to make Sofia's dream come true. 
   We hope that with these devices, Sonya will feel even more confident and discover many new things for herself.
   Currently, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the child's needs.
