In July last year, Maria started having health problems. The active and cheerful girl began to get tired quickly and lose weight. Her parents went to the hospital. After long examinations and tests, in August, the child was diagnosed with high blood sugar. On the same day, Masha was urgently sent to the regional hospital, where she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, insulin-dependent, severe form. By that time, diabetes had already done a lot of damage to the child's body, and other diagnoses joined it.
It was very difficult for the parents to come to terms with this misfortune, but their faith in a better future for their daughter never left them.
Maria is from a large rural family, where her three sisters are also being raised. The girl is very bright, well-rounded, has excellent grades in school and has received the Talented Children of Ukraine award. Masha is now 11 years old and has many friends who support her.
Maria is injected with insulin 4-6 times a day and has her fingers constantly pierced to test her blood sugar. It is painful and mentally difficult for a child who is constantly in a group. But there is an alternative to constant finger piercing – monitoring sensors, which are very expensive for the family to buy, even though the parents work and try to provide the child with everything they need. Maria's mother asks for help to buy sensors to make life easier for her daughter.
